Her character President Alma Coin sports grey hair and drab attire in the new Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 film. But Julianne Moore looked a far cry from her dowdy alter ego on Monday. The 53-year-old actress wowed in a plunging sequined black formal dresses at the Los Angeles premiere of the third installment in the dystopian franchise.

Drop dead gorgeous: Julianne Moore turned heads in a plunging sequinned gown at the Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 on Monday

The flamed hair beauty looked stunning in a shimmery fringe frock that showed off her cleavage with a deep neckline. Julianne parted her loose curls down the middle and vamped up her makeup with a smokey eyeshadow and liner. The mother-of-two made the long formal dresses the statement piece by keeping her accessories minimal, opting for metallic stud earrings and a ring on each hand.

Based on the bestselling young adult novels by author Suzanne Collins, Julianne's character Alma Coin looks nothing like the glamorous actress. In the book series, the leader of the rebellion forces is described by heroine Katniss Everdeen as looking like 'all the color was sucked away,' with grey hair, pale eyes and frigid hair. The Emmy Award winning star certainly brought lots of sparkle to the film's premiere.

In a new interview for More magazine, Julianne shared that ever since she became a fan of the novels, she knew she was destined to play the part of the ruthless District 13 ruler. Her children, Caleb, 16, and Liv, 12, were also excited that they would be seeing their mother in a movie they could actually watch. The actress said: 'Most of the films I make are not for kids. 'My son was in line for the midnight show when The Hunger Games first came out. They both loved the books. For them, my being in Mockingjay was fairly meaningful.'

Mockingjay, Part 1's director Francis Lawrence said of the star: 'She let it be known through the studio and her agent that she was interested, which was exciting,' before adding that she brought 'an intelligence and an inner life.' In the upcoming movie, Julianne stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Natalie Dormer, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.

While an LBD may be perfect for blending into the background, the ladies in black at Monday night's Hunger Games world premiere were a long way from accepting wall flower status. Daisy Lowe lead the pack in a classic, dark floor-sweeper that sat elegantly off her shoulders, allowing her just enough cleavage before she had to step in and save an overspill. While Kimberley Garner and Gemma Merna jumped on the cut-away trend as they flashed a little flesh on the red carpet in London's Leicester Square with the help of some strategic dress panels.

Leader of the pack: Daisy Lowe shows off her curves in a slinky little black dress for the Hunger Games premiere on Monday night

Daisy, famous for her fabulous curves, barely managed to contain her assets in the off-the shoulder garment. It skimmed over her shapely silhouette and cut into a high slit in the back to reveal a little leg as she walked the star-studded red carpet. The model and television personality kept her look sophisticated with a rolled under hairstyle and a quilted clutch that became a burden when it came to readjusting her top.

Someone who was safely strapped in for the evening, was Kimberley who revealed her cleavage through sheer panels that exposed her chest and hips. The dress clung to every inch of her tiny shape and as she turned, the blonde revealed a backless design that was complemented by a silver necklace, which she swung around to the back. Kimberley's make-up was parred down, with just a nude lipstick and some bronze to highlight her cheekbones, while her hair was rolled into light waves without a parting. The former Made In Chelsea star certainly knew her angles when it came to working the cameras on the red carpet.

Spilling out: Daisy appears to struggle to contain her breasts when she walks down the red carpet

One star who was debuting a new look for the special occasion, was Hollyoaks actress Gemma. Gemma showed off her new brunette hairstyle, having recently reverted to the dark side from her recognisable platinum blonde tresses. The actress looked particularly svelte, appearing to have shed some of her enviable curves and suddenly looking more slimline in the cut away garment. Using clever panels again, Gemma hinted at her toned frame with bare sides, choosing long sleeves just like her black dress companion Kimberley.

One of the enduring images of Gucci’s past is of Jackie Kennedy Onassis on a New York street in 1970 lugging a squishy tote she had become so attached to, Gucci rechristened it the “Jackie”.

That bag has been a Gucci goldmine - they reworked it for Winter 2014, loosened it up and christened it the Jackie Soft - but the rest of the outfit was pretty good too. It certainly reflects a period the house has turned to again and again for inspiration. Take spring/summer 2015, for example, particularly as it was shown today, the opening day of the Milan season.

Rather than committing all-out to sixties flower children or seventies decadence, Gucci’s creative head Frida Giannini has dithered, toeing the line between the two. That was why you saw, in quick succession, models sporting whip-smart topstitched suits with A-line skirts hovering below the knee, and blowsy georgette smock-dresses coiled with serpentine prints. Those were the polar extremes, but there were plenty of similarly jarring moments in between, like oversized openwork foliate lace, blown up safari-style eyelet lacing, python, denim-on-denim studded with giant brass buttons, and a couple of Sergeant Pepper braid-bedecked jackets.

They added up to an odd, fractured whole. Sometimes, Giannini tried to reconcile the disparate parts, by running lace and lacing simultaneously through a leather dress, say, or frogging the top of a chiffon evening dresses online asutralia like an officer’s jacket (it looked as ungainly as it sounds).

Byblos Milano Spring/Summer 2015 Collection

The silhouettes - mostly short, mostly lean - were hangovers from Giannini’s winter collection, and earlier still. She’s done them often. They felt old. Maybe Giannini has decided this is what Gucci stands for, this retrograde retro kick. The trouble is that Gucci as a house has no stamp of ownership over these cheap formal dresses, the way they do over those ubiquitous bags. To British eyes, the knotted scarves and A-line silhouettes read as Sloaney Poney, Princess Anne in her tack-shop best. Italians would probably see someone chicer, like Maria Agnelli. But neither reinforced the contemporary identity of the label, nor of Giannini as a designer.

The former is the larger problem for the brand. Developers can be changed, but as Prada releases a extensive new beauty products project, they need to quit depending on the past to determine their existing. I’m gambling hippy won’t offer lippy..

The name of the event might have indicated the evening was all about the fellas. But when Rita Ora emerged on the red carpet for the GQ Men Of The Year Awards at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London on Tuesday the stunning star momentarily stole the show. Rita proved her style credentials in an amazing glittery gown with a revealing slit up the side, putting the singer's toned and tanned legs on show.

diamond evening dress

The evening dresses presented a small train and one-shoulder details. She finished off her look with simple yet elegant naked stilettos. Making sure the charm of her dress was similarly printed by her accessories, Rita carried over £600,000 worth of precious stone jewelry by Vashi Dominguez. Her pieces included a bracelets made from a sequence of 50 size, emerald-cut gemstones, a 10 size precious stone mixture ring, and a pair of 15 size precious stone drop ear-rings.

In fact, Rita’s bling was so expensive she had to have a security guard with her at all times on the red carpet. Her light blonde locks were worn in a quirky quiff that lead into a stylish up do with braids scattered throughout. Other stars rocking a lighter colour palette were Ellie Goulding, who stunned in a ruffled white gown, and Nicole Scherzinger who looked elegant in a strapless cream creation.

After the event, the star changed into an equally blingy romper suit, slashed to her navel, and matching silver high heels. The outfit revealed copious amounts of cleavage and presumably needed some sort of sticky tape to stop a wardrobe malfunction. A presenter at the event, she posed with Paolo Nutini, winner of the Special Achievement award and Andre Balazs, winner of the Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Meanwhile Kim Kardashian sent jaws dropping in a daring long formal dresses that showed off her ample décolletage in a custom-designed haute couture gown by Ralph & Russo, featuring a gunmetal tulle fishtail look with crystal hand-embroidery. No doubt Kim and Rita would be avoiding each other once again amid recent reports from TMZ that Kim wasn't too happy when she was seated just a couple of places from Rita, who dated Kim's brother Rob in 2012, at the VMAs late last month. The site wrote: 'Not wanting any drama, she asked producers to find her a different seat. We're told she wasn't a diva, she just didn't want to have to be social with Rita.'

The Geordie singer wore a black shift evening dresses which had a contrasting white collar and she teamed the look with a pair of monochrome high heeled shoes on Wednesday evening. Giving her look a splash of colour, the pretty brunette also wore red nails and a slick of matching scarlet lipstick.

Despite Cheryl's smiles for the camera, it appears that all has not been well with the star today and she took to Twittter to air her views. She wrote: 'One of those days when you get out of bed and just want to get back in it and wake up again tomorrow ..' She also posted an Instagram quote which read: 'Lesson of time - Karma. When a bird is alive. It eat ants. When the the bird is dead. Ants eat the bird. 'Time and circumstances can change at any time. Don't devalue or hurt anyone in life. You may be powerful today. But remember...

'Time is more powerful than you! One tree makes a million match sticks...Only one match stick needed to burn a million trees. So be good and do good.' Meanwhile, Simon Cowell and girlfriend Lauren Silverman indulged in several PDA's when they walked up the red carpet and posed for photographers. As he puckered up to the mother of his baby son, six month old, Eric, Simon stood out in his trademark open-buttoned white shirt, trousers and dark sunglasses.

While his lady looked stunning in a black leather pencil skirt, sleeveless blouse and a pair of killer heels. She added in a gold belt which cinched her in at the waist. Giggling as they posed by a promotional poster, the playful couple giggled as their fans threw lots of attention their way. They have been particularly tactile in public of late with them being pictured smooching in front of the cameras while on a recent break in St Tropez, France.

No doubt they enjoyed catching up with Simon's close friend and fellow judge, Louis Walsh who arrived wearing his beloved jeans, brogues and blazer combo. Guests at the launch drank Crystal Head vodka cocktails called 'Star in the making,' and 'The winner is...' Returning host, Dermot O'Leary was rocking a similar look but threw on a pair of grey jeans instead and The Xtra Factor host, Sarah Jane Crawford looked stunning in an orange printed mini cheap formal dresses. Meanwhile, Simon recently revealed more about his fall-out with fellow judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, after he unceremoniously sacked her from American X Factor back in 2011.

Cowell told Radio Times that the singer had 'put on a bit of weight' and whose confidence had plummeted following the end of her marriage to Ashley Cole, had become unrecognisable.

Five days a week we go through the same morning exercise of opening our closets and trying to pull together a polished yet stylish look. And if you're me...it's usually while I'm running late, trying to flat iron my hair, and look for my keys which I swear I left on the kitchen counter.

The reality is that great personal style (especially on-the-go) doesn’t happen in just 10 minutes in the morning. Being able to clearly articulate your style is the first step to guiding your overall look.

Many fashion brands create mood boards to help visualize who they are and who they aren't. It helps put parameters in place to determine what clothing, models, music, etc. are right for them (or as we say in fashion, “on brand”). In essence, you are building the brand of you. As you start, look to your wardrobe for cues. Most women tend to buy iterations of the same pieces over and over. Identify those repetitive items in your closet to help understand and determine what shapes, styles and trends you respond to most. Then create your own mood board of your ideal style from magazine images, street style photos and Pinterest.

Once you have a roadmap to your ultimate look you have a framework to start determining your best looks. Over my years as an editor and stylist, I’ve created three insider tricks that work to bring out your best by re-imaging what you already have.

1. “Boutique” Your Closet
Most closets are organized by rows of hanging items divided by category of clothing (i.e. pants with pants, skirts with skirts). While this method is extremely practical it creates an uninspiring styling condition, as it’s hard to imagine what items can work with other items in such a linear presentation—especially under the pressure of time. When we organize like this we tend to wear the same outfits we have always worn which leads to the inevitable statement of “I have nothing to wear.” So borrow a trick from some of the top fashion retailers and merchandise your closet in outfits. Hang tops and skirts next to each other that you want to try as an outfit that you’ve never worn before. Use your mood board as inspiration for layering and mixing prints and colors.

2. Start Backwards

Instead of starting your look by picking out a top or dress (that is how the majority of women get dressed everyday) begin with selecting a standout shoe or accessory and build a look around that statement piece. You'll be surprised at the unexpected look you might create.

3. Style Your Go-To Top 10

Spend time doing a mini-style out of your closet each season. Make a list of 10 places or activities that you’ll have to dress for over the next three months (big meetings, weekend shopping, date night, wedding, brunch) and find your perfect look(s) for each. Capture your favorite outfits in a #selfie and keep them filed away on your laptop so in the busy rhythm of daily life you know you have pre-planned looks to refer back to.
